Step away from Old Town’s lively streets and into the calm of the Jail Trail River Walk. Named for the historic jail once located near the trailhead, this 1.6-mile loop is part of the Verde River Greenway State Natural Area.

There’s something grounding about trading sidewalks for a soft earth stroll beside a river. Along the way, keep an eye out for all sorts of wildlife, including white-tailed deer, hummingbirds, sparrows, hawks, and butterflies.
